MAA 1112: Drawing and Anatomy

Continuing to develop the basic drawings course, students will focus on rendering life forms in space. Emphasis will be placed on the basic anatomical structures of human and animal forms.

 

JUMP TO A SPECIFIC WEEK:

Week8: Comparitve Animal Anatomy

Lecture: Crit Animal Studies Renderings & sketch ideas for Final Project: Review for Final Written Exam. Comparative Animal Anatomy, simplifying forms for action and proportions.     
Lab: Drawing animal replicas and life model(s); morphing. We will use our toy animals and morph them with the pose of the model. Our final drawing will also invlove us creating a habitat for this hybrid. EXAMPLES OF STUDENT WORK:

Homework:
1. Work on final projects. (10th week: Bring in layout/blocked in graphite drawing(s) for instructor approval and troubleshooting if needed.)
2. Simblet: 218-229 and 238-243.
Materials for next class: Basics plus good drawing/toned/Canson paper, etc. (color/painting optional)
3. WARNING NOTES: Buy your black presentation boards NOW, before bookstore runs out. Keep up to date with scanning and printing. Print shop gets overloaded last two weeks of quarter. If your Final Project is in watercolor, pastel, color pencils, etc, practice those techniques NOW, before attempting them on your final projects.
