| Click on the images below for links to Video Tutorials. This series covers how to create a female torso using an edge extrusion method from image planes and a NURBS based template. All images and videos are copyright Andrew Klein. | |
In part 1 of 7, Andrew Klein (www.andrewklein.net) looks how to create a basic NURBS silhoutte of a female character from already inserted image planes. This rough form will be used to model around. |
In part 2 of 7, Andrew Klein (www.andrewklein.net) edits the color of the base template for better visibilty, then uses the create polygon tool to make the first contour of the form. By extruding edges and then creating a duplicate instance, the first row of faces along the centerline of the model is created. |
Part 3 of 7 of this series by Andrew Klein (www.andrewklein.net) examines how to create a second contour using the create polygon tool, how to combine the two into one mesh, and fix the resulting normals orientation. Then the tutorial goes further to start using the append polygon tool to fill in the gaps between the contours across the chest and stomach. |
In part 4 of 7, Andrew Klein (www.andrewklein.net) looks at how to create specific animation-ready edgeloops for the abdomen, the neck, the arms, and the breasts. |
In part 5 of 7, Andrew Klein (www.andrewklein.net) continues creating edgeloops for the trapezius and for the legs. |
In part 6 of 7, Andrew Klein (www.andrewklein.net) finishes the breasts and fills in holes along the sides of the model. |
In part 7 of 7, Andrew Klein (www.andrewklein.net) completes the torso section of this model by extending out the arms over the deltoids, extending the legs down over the butt, and by extruding up the neck slightly more. |
