Courses Taught:

MA1112: Drawing and Anatomy
Continuing to develop the basic drawings course, students will focus on rendering life forms in space.
Emphasis will be placed on the basic anatomical structures of human and animal forms.

MA1134: Principles of 3d Modeling
Through critical analysis, the student will apply basic design principles to the solution of visual problems
using elements of 3D design. The student will conceptualize 3D coordinate systems, construct 3D models,
and perform mathematical computations as they apply to geometric construction.

GA2211: Hard Surface and Organic Modeling
This course covers advanced modeling techniques used for building organic and hard surface objects and environments.
GA3311: Materials and Lighting
In this class students will be introduced to materials, textures and lighting strategies to add detail
and realism to objects without adding complexity to the model. Students will simulate real world
surfaces containing reflection radiosity and other effects.
MA3312: Advanced Texturing and Lighting
In this course the students will learn to apply traditional paint concepts, tools, and techniques
for use in computer animation. They will develop critical ideas for surface treatment, texture,
and lighting and demonstrate the layering of light in space to create mood, emotion and theme.
Furthermore, they will demonstrate an understanding of global illumination, final gather, Radiosity,
and HDRI. Finally, upon completion they will be able to critically understand how light affects a
surfaces’ color based on material: Diffusion, Gloss, Specularity, Reflectivity, Translucence, and Ambience.
GA3313: Designing 3d Environments
Most levels of popular games are designed as building interiors and contain characteristics common
to interior design layouts. This is also true of the film world. This course provides the opportunity for
students to create architectural interiors representing houses, buildings, and entire worlds contained
under a roof, in which to place their characters.
GA3324: Character Modeling
This course covers advanced modeling techniques for building 3 dimensional characters. Students will
explore techniques of character modeling to include various approaches to figure construction.
MA4400: Characters for Animation Production
Students will concept characters from established narratives, then create the models and textures
needed for these to become rigged and animated in collaboration with the students in the MA4403
Production Team course. Emphasis is on cohesive design, a sense of developed style, and adherence
to technical standards.
MA4411: Animation Portfolio Production
In this course students will complete portfolio pieces, organize them for presentation, and focus on
works that reflect and enhance their individual strengths in computer animation. This course enables
students to define and pursue their career path.
GA4412: Game Art Senior Project 1
GA4422: Game Art Senior Project 2
GA3099: Game Production
Students select an area to research and develop their portfolio projects. The emphasis is on quantitative
and qualitative results. Additionally, students prepare, present and defend a project suitable for professional presentation.

MA4435: Advanced 3d Modeling and Texturing
GA4435: Advanced Game Modeling and Texturing
The Purpose of this course is to introduce advance concepts for modeling, texturing, and rendering
through the combination of Maya, Photoshop and Zbrush. Focusing on various pipelines, this course
covers concepts such as displacement mapping, normal mapping, Zspheres and their skinning processes,
and 2.5 illustration.
FS497: Portfolio 2 (GAD+VGP)
This course focuses on the completion of a student's portfolio and enables the student to begin a career search. Students present work for the portfolio, then review and determine the quality of the work and make any enhancements necessary. The student also completes a professional resume and extensive job search.
CA515: Facial Animation Studies
This course focuses on analysis of the animation cycle, traditional animation techniques, and the
study of motion and experimental animation. Students will focus on facial animation and gesture
techniques. Specifically,
students will build self-portraits, record audio, and perform animation tests
with rigged busts of their own heads.
